12.11. Self-Leadership

This is the first part of a two-lecture series that focuses on the tools for self-development and well-being. The goal is to support the participants in developing the emotional endurance and resilience needed to pursue personal goals, manage challenges, and move towards a desired career.

The main topics include self-awareness, long-term orientation and visioning, time-management, mindset flexibility, self-compassion, resilience. The session will explore a library of tools suited for different circumstances and needs.

During the lecture you will learn to:

- Understand how to gain a study/work-life balance while progressing towards strategic goals;
- Apply goal-setting methods and time-management tools in the context of strategic life goals and career design;
- Understand the meaning of resilience and apply tools to create healthy habits and tackle anxiety and stress.

19.11. Career Design

This is the second part of a two-lecture series that focuses on designing a desired career path. The goal is to support the participants to use a variety of techniques to design their career and start acting to reach it.

In this session we will focus on personal values and motivators, as well as strengths and interests as a base for career development. We will explore various career possibilities, from corporate work to entrepreneurship, learn about effectuation method for career planning, and use various tools for career exploration. We will also talk about practical tips for landing a job.

The session will explore a library of tools within career design.

During the lecture you will learn to:

- Learn about your values and motivators;
- Apply prioritization tools in the context of strategic life goals and career design;
- Design a meaningful career path and start moving towards it.

The workshops are based on Aalto University’s Good Life Engine course taught by Lidia Rauramo and Anna Dementyeva.

Lidia is an Executive Coach and educator at Aalto University, teaching leadership, self-leadership, well-being, and teamwork. Lidia is a co-author of Aalto-wide self-leadership course – Good Life Engine.

Anna has worked in the education field for more than 15 years, mainly focusing on entrepreneurship education. In her work with startups and companies she has noticed the importance of self-leadership and well-being skills for achieving a successful career and fulfilling life.
