Dream Timeless & Anemelo – Etno – Folk Station
Date and timeSat 18.9.2021, at 7:00 p.m.
The club gig features echoes from Native American peoples and Greece.
The ensemble’s music combines cello music seasoned with electronic effects and looper technique with Yovan Nagwetch’s mystical native music.
Anemelo is a Helsinki-based quartet playing rebetiko and Greek urban folk music, exploring the richness of rhythms and melodies of the genre.
Rebetiko is a Greek musical and cultural expression directly linked to song and dance that initially spread among the urban lower and working-class populations in the early twentieth century. The element is performed in public and performers encourage audience participation. Rebetiko songs contain invaluable references to the customs, practices, and traditions of a particular way of life, but above all the practice is a living musical tradition with a strong symbolic, ideological, and artistic character. You are warmly welcome on a musical journey, to experience the spirit and the raw and direct energy of a different time, from Cafe Aman to the recordings of USA and Istanbul and all the way to the narrow streets of Athens, Piraeus, and Thessaloniki.
