Description

The roots of MA Rouf’s music are in the Middle Eastern sufi tradition combined with Scandinavian jazz influences.

Many of MA Rouf’s songs talk about change, and the emotions of an undefined future such as hope and fear. These emotions are addressed by mixing the styles of the Kurdish musical tradition with Afro-centric and Scandinavian polyphony, counterpoint and improvisation. The band’s debut album The People was released in the spring 2019.

Marouf Majidi – tar, tanbour, vocals
Jouni Järvelä – wind instruments
Jukka Haavisto – bass
Tomi Saikkonen – drums
Riku Kantola – keyboards
