Folk, blues & beyond

“Hobo Quartet is a four-piece outfit marinated in the diverse rootsy sounds of acts such as Rave On, The Spoonshiners, King James & The Idiots, Telomeres and more. The band’s range of styles covers everything from folk and blues to the singer-songwriter tradition.
The songs written in English by the band’s main songwriter Jean Ramsay are supplemented with a repertoire of carefully-selected traditional covers ranging from Sticks McGhee and Merle Haggard to the masters of the Earle clan.
Having previously performed as a trio called Luhtala / Oksanen / Ramsay, the band added bassist Anton Salokoski to its roster, growing into a string instrument and harmonica driven quartet fused together by an interest in exotic depression-era drinks, acoustic instruments and well-timed entrances – and even better-timed goodbyes.
Wherever you hear the lonely whine of a train whistle, Hobo Quartet is near. At the Käpylä Library, Hobo Quartet will be performing two sets consisting of the band’s own songs and covers. “
