Description

Artists, curators and designers gather for the third time to rethink who determines the North, proposing the South as the new North. Neo Norte 3.0 (“New North”) is an exhibition of contemporary art and a series of public events based on an ongoing research, inspired by Joaquín Torres García’s “Escuela del Sur” (School of the South), that placed the map upside down. Tere Chad, the curator, invited both Latin American practitioners and artists interested in Latin American culture to challenge geopolitics.

Neo Norte 1.0 was first presented at Fundación Cultural de Providencia, Santiago, Chile (2018). Neo Norte 2.0 included a major exhibition in Exposed Arts Projects and a smaller exhibition at Window 3, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, London, United Kingdom (2019). In its third edition, the exhibition gathers nearly 30 artists, curators and designers (including participants involved in curation and events). Most of the group is based in London or Helsinki, but it also includes practitioners currently based in Latin America.

Artists: César Baracca, Fabiola Hidalgo, Fabu Pires, Fátima González, Giuseppe Mario Urso, Hildá Länsman, Iria Suárez, José Carlos García Oliva, Lorenzo Belenguer, Olav Lorentzen, Pato Bosich, Patricia Claro, Paula Turmina, Rosamaría Bolom, Susana Uvidia, Tere Chad and Viv Magia.
