The Audience is a concert for the whole family, celebrating multilingualism as one event of the annual Satakielikuukausi.
The programme will feature interactive listening, viewing and activities for both younger and older music enthusiasts.
Programme:
The Audience for a string quartet and a narrator (poems by Wendy Cope)
An interactive live installation about the life of artist Helene Schjerfbeck (new work)
Vyyhti for a solo cello and a participating audience
The Audience by the British musician Roxanna Panufnik is a tableau of the different audience members of classical music concerts. Its ten parts all describe a certain type of people. The witty texts by Wendy Cope and the descriptive music by Panufnik will create a diverse selection of various styles and emotions. Ernest Lawson, an actor and an entertainer also familiar from TV, will serve as the narrator.
Heli Haapala is a flute artist from Lapland who has mostly made her career in her home town of Rovaniemi, where she works as the solo flautist of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra.
Vyyhti, by top-tier Finnish contemporary composer Lotta Wennäkoski, will take comprehensive hold of the audience, inviting them to take active part in the musical work. In the work based on the original idea of cellist Lauri Angervo, the audience will be allowed to hum, imitate, move around and play recordings from their phone, among other activities.
