Jarmo Saari 51 years
The award-winning multi-instrumentalist, musician and composer Jarmo Saari celebrates his 51th birthday in a charity concert at the Savoy Theatre.
A cross-section of his versatile career from the past to the future will take the audience from delicate acoustical moments to the volcanic rhythms of nirvana. The list of performers is superb, including Emma Salokoski, Timo Lassy, Marzi Nyman, Laura Hynninen, Tommy Lindgren, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Niko Kumpuvaara, Atte Kilpeläinen, Jukka Perko Avara, XL, and Jarmo Saari Republic. The proceeds of the concert will go to the prevention of sexual violence against children.
Jarmo Saari (born 1970) is one of the most unique guitarists of his generation. The musician-composer-producer has performed in more than 30 countries and on 100 albums, and in 2012, he was awarded the Finland Award for artistic activities. He is famous for the visual composition style created for concerts, films, television, choreographies, theatre, and albums with multi-layered collages created with the guitar, the human voice and a variety of less common instruments, such as the theremin, baroque cello and glass harp. In 2019, German record label Membra released the album Soldiers of Light by Jarmo Saari Republic.
ZetaBoo, XL, Reuna, as well as Filmtet, Jarmo Saari Solu, Trubamolli and Republic are products of his mind. Saari has worked as a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and composer with the following: Tero Saarinen, Jukka Perko, Michael Brecker, Tapiola Choir, FRSO, the Meta4 string quartet, EBB, Esko Salminen, Mika Kaurismäki, HPO, Trilok Gurtu, Pekka Kuusisto, UMO, Tuomari Nurmio, Don Huonot, Jorma Hynninen and Pepe Deluxe.
