Seurasaari Midsummer Bonfires 2021
Seurasaari Midsummer's Eve festival offers much to see and experience.
This urban celebration is a living part of Finland`s national cultural heritage that brings nostalgia to the fore. Organised in a museum setting, the festival has accommodated traditional as well as fresh perspectives on the Finnish Midsummer holiday.
Skilful artisans demonstrate their skills along the road, and at the Antti event grounds the evening is kicked off by raising the Midsummer pole and learning folk dancing. Several bonfires are set alight during the celebration, including one for the children and the spectacular main bonfire, lit by the Midsummer bridal couple.
The programme also features coloring and garland workshops and horse cart rides. It is also possible to enjoy sauna, join in a tour in the nature and visit a hug park, the Antti farmstead and the oldest building on the museum island, Karuna Church. Children’s polonaise, folk dancing and folk music will be performed at the Festival grounds and, at the end of the evening, everyone will be welcome to join the traditional Midsummer dancing.
