Helsinki Chamber Music Festival 2021
Helsinki Chamber Music Festival is an international event organised yearly in July.
Now being held for the fourth time, the festival is a series of concerts in downtown Helsinki. The beautiful venues, light summer evenings and urban atmosphere of the Finnish capital provide a unique setting for this festival of music. Artists from both Finland and abroad will this year be giving nine concerts in relaxed, inspiring surroundings.
The opening concert will be held at the Helsinki Central Library, Oodi. The Suomenlinna fortress will be the setting for a sea-related evening of Lieder, and the G18 hall for a programme of music by Slavonic composers.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, who will be celebrated in the Old Church. From there, it is only a short walk round the block to Putte’s Bar & Pizza, to hear two cellos bowing to pop and rock arrangements.
Animals will be in carnival mood at the children’s concert in the Helsinki Music Centre foyer, and the festival will culminate in the Ernest Chausson concerto in the lofty acoustics of St John’s Church.
